When loaded with modern, ultra-low diameter braided lines such as PowerPro, the smallest models within the Tyrnos range are proving increasingly popular with specialist anglers.

The Shimano Tyrnos reels are small and light enough to fish comfortably all day for key species such as cod, ling and pollack, yet retain the inherent strength and high levels of engineering to comfortably handle the most powerful species available in Europe, including the likes of wreck conger, giant skate and sharks offshore in deep water.

The Tyrnos single speed lever drag overhead series comes packed with Shimano’s cutting edge reel technology. With a compact one-piece cold forged frame, light-weight spool with oversized High Efficiency Gearing, these durable aluminium reels have the incredible cranking power one looks for in a light to medium tackle game reel.

All models have alternating twin pawl anti-reverse mechanisms.

With the oversized stainless steel gears always meshed, changing from high to low and back again can be done even when under load. Rapidly clear the trolling pattern after a hookup and when chasing down a hot runner, or switch to low for incredible amounts of fish-moving power.

A-RB bearings are stainless steel ball bearings that have been through the A-RB treatment process, which makes them at least 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings. Providing easy maintenance and increased bearing speed, their no shield design allows for easy flushing of debris and easy lubrication, and lighter viscosity lubrication reduce friction and allow the bearing to spin faster and longer.
